Twitter

twitter

Twitter is a social networking tool that allows like-minded individuals, businesses, groups, organisations, anyone really to send out to the world wide web excerpts, links, stories, tips, hints essentially anything in short text form (much like an sms… but online!)

It’s quite simple really;

1. Sign up for an account – Twitter Signup

2. Change your picture by signing in with your username and password and click settings on the top right, find the tab ‘picture’ and browse your computer for an image.

3. Now click ‘Find People’ to search for friends or categories you are interested in, without ‘following’ or having ‘followers’ you can’t see what anyone is up to and you have no one to read what you are up to. Once you have found somebody you would like to get updates from click ‘follow’ underneath their display image eg Stocks for Breakfast

4. Click ‘home’ and you will see a box with the words ‘What are you doing?’ above it, type in something interesting be it a joke, something you saw or heard, a link to a news story etc the more engaging the better. The more users that find your thoughts interesting the better chance of having a larger group of ‘followers’.

5. It’s good to check on the users you are following to get the most up to date news. Twitter is a powerful tool and is already being harnessed by businesses and celebrities like CNN, Oprah, Barack Obama etc

6. Lastly, have fun!
